District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. to testify before the NY City Counsel Public Safety Committee regarding Resolution 986-A in support of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to amend the Penal Law to make possession of a small quantity of marijuana in public view a violation rather than a misdemeanor.  



Arrest to Sentencing Pesentation at ACF's ‘Celebrating Fatherhood’ Event


The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office will host an Arrest to Sentencing presentation at the Administration for Children & Families’ 'Celebrating Fatherhood’ event. The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is responsible for federal programs that promote the economic and social well-being of families, children, individuals, and communities. 2012 Chinatown Safety & Crime Prevention Seminar

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, and the NYPD will host the 2012 Chinatown Safety & Crime Prevention Seminar  The seminar will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, 62 Mott Street, Chinatown from 2pm to 4pm. 3rd Annual Harlem Pride

DA staff will be offering information, resources and referral services at the 3rd Annual Harlem Pride at the Jackie Robinson Park.



Drill & Play Tournament at BasketBall City

299 South Street (at the corner of Montgomery Street)

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. joined youth basketball players, their families, community leaders, and other special guests for another successful Drill and Play Tournament.  Basketball City generously donated their new premier space at 299 South Street for an all day tournament for over 150 boys and girls ages 12-18 who have been participating every weekend in Drill and Play training sessions run by Pro Hoops Inc., a premier basketball training company. The free training program is run every Friday and Saturday night out of three Manhattan sites (PAL Harlem Center in Central Harlem, Boys and Girls Republic on the Lower East Side, and SCAN NY in Johnson Houses in East Harlem).

Drill & Play is a part of the Saturday Night Lights Initiative, a partnership made up of government and social service agencies which uses money seized from drug cases to hire professional sports trainers and provide free, exceptional training in gyms that have been opened up on Friday and Saturday nights. Since its inception in October of 2011 we have provided a safe haven for over 1,000 kids and counting.

Milbank Frawley Summerfest

Milbank Frawley Courtyard & East 117st between Madison & 5th Ave

In light of the takedown that occurred at Milbank Frawley and King Towers in January 2012 and in partnership with NYCHA, NYPD and our office, “Summerfest” was created to revitalize the Milbank Frawley’s courtyard that was overrun with drugs for more than a year, re-establish as community park.
