2nd Annual Building Strong Families: Forging Pathways to a Stronger African Community

On Thursday, March 6, 2014, the New York County District Attorney’s Office together with the Council of African Imams and Sauti Yetu/Center for African Women and Families will co-sponsor the “2nd Annual Building Strong Families: Forging Pathways to a Stronger African Community” forum.  This event will be held at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building, 163 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027 from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. 

The goal of the forum is to give the African immigrant community the tools and resources they need to respond to matters related to family issues. Topics will include: Engaging with Your Child’s School to Ensure Success, Negotiating Cultural Differences and When Family Disputes Affect Your Safety

Domestic Violence Forum at Police Service 4 Community Council

Boys and Girls Republic, 888 East 6th Street (between Ave D & FDR Drive)

On Monday, March 24, 2014 at 6:00 pm the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the NYPD will host a Domestic Violence Forum at the Boys and Girls Republic, located on 888 East 6th Street (between Ave D & FDR Drive). Additionally, information will be provided about the various NYPD programs for youth as well as the educational programs of the District Attorney's Office.
