Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau announced today that a former personal assistant pleaded guilty to stealing over $45,000 from Frederick Iseman, the founder and managing partner of Caxton-Iseman Capital LLC, a private equity investment firm located at 500 Park Avenue.

FATIMA MONAHAN, 36, worked as a personal and professional assistant for Mr. Iseman from August 11, 2005 until November 11, 2006, when she was fired. As Mr. Iseman’s professional assistant, MONAHAN’s responsibilities included scheduling appointments, booking flights, making hotel reservations, opening and sorting mail, and other administrative tasks. As Mr. Iseman’s personal assistant, MONAHAN’s responsibilities included a wide variety of duties, such as coordinating household maintenance, personal and family appointments, running errands, and preparing checks for the payment of personal bills.

The investigation revealed that from June 2006 until November 11, 2006, MONAHAN used Mr. Iseman’s American Express credit card for numerous personal expenses. The defendant used the Internet for the majority of her purchases. She bought high-end clothing, shoes, children’s wear, food, and household items ranging from kitchen utensils to sheet sets from various online stores. MONAHAN also purchased and used gift cards from Bergdorf Goodman.

MONAHAN pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree in New York State Supreme Court. Under the terms of the plea, the defendant will pay $45,000 in restitution and will be sentenced to five years probation on September 12, 2008.

Assistant District Attorney Archana Rao of the Special Prosecutions Bureau is in charge of the prosecution under the supervision of Bureau Chief Thomas Wornom and Deputy Bureau Chief Joan Delaney.
