DISTRICT ATTORNEY VANCE STATEMENT ON GUILTY VERDICT IN WILFREDO ROSARIO TRIAL Former New York City Police Officer Wilfredo Rosario was found guilty today of one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, one count of Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, and one count of Official Misconduct. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., issued the following statement: |
|
"This case was particularly troubling to our Manhattan community. The defendant, a member of the New York City Police Department, abused his position of power, repeatedly taking advantage of vulnerable women when he was obligated to protect and defend them. "I would like to thank Assistant District Attorney Artie McConnell for his hard work in successfully prosecuting this serious case, under the supervision of Trial Bureau 50 Chief Warren Murray, Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit Lisa Friel, and Senior Investigator Edward Tacchi. I also want to thank Sergeant Yvette Collazo, Sergeant Agueda Rodriguez, Lieutenant Daniel Royael, and Captain Joseph DiBartolomeo of the New York City Police Department. Trial Preparation Assistants Stephanie Davidson, Michelle Assad, and Inn-Young Park, as well as former Assistant District Attorney Mark Crooks, also assisted on this case." ### Additional news available at: www.manhattanda.org Follow us at twitter.com/ManhattanDA New York County District Attorney | duggane@dany.nyc.gov | 212-335-9400 |
