Two NYPD officers were arrested for allegedly stealing cash during an “integrity test” held by the department, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
After spending a full 25-year sentence in prison for a crime he did not commit, a Bronx, New York, man was exonerated by the first prosecutorial conviction review unit on the East Coast.
“My Office and our courageous partners in the NYPD’s Firearms Suppression Division have already taken more than 1,800 trafficked guns off New York City’s streets, but there’s an urgent need to discourage these merchants of death from doing business here in the first place.”
“Crimes committed by members of law enforcement threaten the essential public trust that our communities place in us, and will be vigorously prosecuted by my Office’s Public Corruption Unit.”
“A prosecutor’s job is not just to seek convictions, but to seek
justice,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr.
