D.A. Bragg Announces Indictments In Sprawling Investigation That Charges City Employees In Ghost Gun And Fraud Conspiracies Click For More

“As alleged, the takedown of a sophisticated ghost gun manufacturing operation uncovered wide-ranging schemes, including the link to a massive fraud and a planned burglary,” said District Attorney Bragg. “These alleged schemes were orchestrated and largely operated by city employees, many of whom abused their positions of public trust for personal gain. We see a clear link between those engaging in violent crimes and traditional white-collar fraud at the same time. My Office will continue leveraging the expertise and tools available at our disposal to dismantle these types of interconnected schemes, no matter how complex they are. I thank all of our prosecutors, analysts and investigators for their hard work and diligence in following the facts and uncovering this series of criminal activity.”

D.A. Bragg Announces Prison Sentence For Driver Who Killed Two Pedestrians Click For More

“Leandro Diaz-Ramirez’s reckless driving caused the tragic death of two pedestrians. Leandro Diaz-Ramirez appropriately received the maximum sentence for Manslaughter in the Second Degree, but nothing can bring back Joel Adames and David Fernandez, whose lives were cut short. We cannot allow this type of speeding to become normalized because of the grave consequences it has on public safety, and my Office will continue to hold accountable drivers who harm pedestrians,” said District Attorney Bragg.

D.A. Bragg, D.O.I. Commissioner Strauber, D.O.B. Commissioner Oddo Announce Indictment Of Valor Security For Operating Sham Safety Training School With Approx. 20k “Students” Click For More

District Attorney Bragg said: “In the construction industry, fraud can mean life or death – not only for the individuals working on the site, but for the general public that moves around them every single day. We allege that Valor Security & Investigations ran a fraudulent safety training school, falsely claiming that construction workers received the necessary training required to work on construction sites. We also allege that the death of one recipient, Ivan Frias, may have been prevented if not for the defendants’ reckless failure to train him. With our partners at DOI and DOB, we are determined to root out fraud, especially when it puts New Yorkers at risk. We will not let harm come to workers because companies want to turn a quick profit.”

Today we announced a new round of funding for up to 7 Manhattan community-based organizations to work to proactively prevent youth gun violence this summer. “Particularly when it comes to younger New Yorkers, preventing a crime is always better than prosecuting one” – D.A. Bragg.

For the third consecutive summer, we’re awarding $20,000 to organizations to pay young New Yorkers stipends to participate in meaningful programming. https://buff.ly/3vVXQL2
