Event Information

The New York City Commission on Human Rights, the Mayor’s Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes, and the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit are hosting a Bias Incidents & Hate Crimes Reporting Virtual Town Hall on Thursday, June 4 at 3pm. In recent weeks, we’ve seen an increase in COVID-19 related bias incidents and hate crimes. As communities are being urged to report these incidents, we are creating space for people to get firsthand information from the agencies responding to these acts. Please see the attached flier.

This virtual town hall will give attendees an understanding of the difference between bias incidents and hate crimes, which agencies to contact for each, what the reporting process looks like, and what happens when a person officially files a complaint or an arrest is made. It will also be an opportunity for community members to share issues and concerns that have come up as a result of COVID-19 related bias and hate.

Register here.
